Email verification

Verify emails before you send, without sending a thing

Dead addresses cause bounces, and bounces hurt your inbox’s reputation. VibeHunter checks the emails of the leads you collect before sending and shows the status of every address, so you only write to the ones that exist.

How verification works

Every address goes through several steps. If a step fails, the check stops there.

01

Syntax and disposable inboxes

A malformed address gets the invalid status, a throwaway (disposable) inbox gets risky.

02

Domain MX records

If the domain doesn’t accept mail, the address is invalid. If DNS didn’t answer, the status is unknown, not “bad”.

03

SMTP and catch-all

The mail server is asked whether the mailbox exists (the RCPT TO command), but no email is sent. Domains that accept any address are marked catch_all.

What each status means

StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
deliverableThe server confirmed that the mailbox existsSafe to write
catch_allThe domain accepts any address, so the mailbox itself can’t be confirmedWrite carefully, watch bounces
unknownThe server or DNS didn’t answerWrite carefully
riskyDisposable (throwaway) inboxDon’t write
undeliverableThe server said this mailbox doesn’t existDon’t write
invalidA typo in the address, or the domain doesn’t accept mailDon’t write

Campaigns skip addresses with the invalid, undeliverable and risky statuses. Addresses that haven’t been checked yet are checked right before sending.

What verification does for your campaigns

01

Fewer bounces

Emails don’t go to addresses that don’t exist, so there are fewer bounce messages and less risk for your domain.

02

Honest lead grades

Only leads with an address confirmed by the check get grade A. After a check, the lead is graded again.

03

Bounces in the CRM

If an email from a campaign still bounces, VibeHunter finds the delivery failure in your inbox and marks the lead as Bounced.

04

Nothing to run by hand

Addresses are checked when you preview a campaign’s audience, and any still unchecked are checked right before sending. It’s included in the plan, with no credits to buy.

When verification matters most

01

A new inbox

A fresh inbox has no reputation yet, and a few bounces in the first weeks can send the rest of your emails to spam.

02

Small local businesses

Cafés, salons and shops open, close and change domains often, so an address from their website may already be dead.

03

Large volumes

On Agency, with up to 7,500 emails a month across 10 inboxes, every percent of bounces is dozens of failed emails.

Limits worth knowing

  1. 1

Verification works for the leads you collect in VibeHunter and for lists you import from a CSV file. Imported contacts count towards your monthly lead limit.

  2. 2

No SMTP check is 100% certain: some servers don’t answer, or answer “yes” for any address (catch-all). That’s why VibeHunter shows these addresses with their own statuses instead of passing them off as verified.

  3. 3

Bounces and replies are tracked for inboxes connected over SMTP/IMAP. Inboxes connected through Google sign-in can’t be read.

Contact support
Does the check send an email to the address?

No. The recipient’s server is asked whether it would accept mail for this mailbox, and the connection is closed before anything is sent.

Can the check hurt my inbox or domain?

No. The check runs from VibeHunter’s server and sends nothing, so your inbox isn’t involved at all.

Does deliverable guarantee that the email arrives?

It means the mailbox exists. Whether the email lands in the inbox also depends on your domain setup (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), the reputation of your inbox and what you write.

What should I do with catch_all addresses?

They can’t be confirmed in advance. Send to them in small volumes and watch the bounces, or send only to grade A leads, whose addresses the check confirmed.

Why is a status unknown?

The recipient’s server or DNS didn’t answer in time, which happens with slow or strict mail servers. Such addresses aren’t excluded from campaigns, so watch their bounces.

Why did a lead’s grade change after the check?

Grade A needs an address the check confirmed. If the address turns out to be invalid or doesn’t exist, the lead is graded again and drops to B or C.

Is verification paid separately?

No, it’s included in PRO and Agency with no credits or per-address fees.

Can I verify my own list of addresses?

Yes. Import a CSV file with an email column on the Contacts page: the addresses are checked in the background, and imported contacts count towards your monthly lead limit.
